Renée Ratelle is one of Jacob's best friends. Renée is French-Canadian and speaks with a French accent, including using French phrases.

"Renée is that French girl in Jacob's class that he's never gotten along with. When Renée shows up in the middle of an investigation, trying to solve the same mystery Jacob and Barnaby are trying to solve, the only rational solution is to join forces. Since Renée is a real hothead who doesn't always look before she leaps, it becomes Jacob's role to temper her enthusiasm. Of course neither of them can actually admit to being friends with a member of the opposite sex."[1]
Personality[]
At first, Renée appeared to be arrogant and unfriendly. She has a very short temper and rides a skateboard, which has earned her the nickname "Rattlesnake Ratelle". She is the most intelligent student at Dreary Meadows. At times she can be cocky and prideful about her skills and cleverness. In the earlier episodes, she and Jacob had a rivalry and couldn't stand each other, and only interacted with each other whenever they needed to work together. As the series goes on, Renée and Jacob begin to warm up to each other, and Jacob learns that Renée truly cares for him.
She often exclaims "zut", which is French for "damn" or "drat".
Renée is calm and cool, but sometimes like Jacob, she can be a little frantic and get carried away. She is nice and cares for her friends.
Appearance[]
Renée has blonde hair and wears glasses. She wears a black turtleneck shirt over a denim overall dress, black tights and blue sneakers. During winter, she wears a black hat and a purple jacket.
